The Harvest Atlantic project was presented by the Commonwealth as leader to the last call for Interreg IVB Atlantic Area Priority 1 " Enhance competitiveness and innovation capacities in the areas of excellence of the maritime economy ," aims to identify and exchange best practices and sustainable solutions based on innovation , diversification and marketing to economics and maritime resources in order to improve the socio- economic situation of the Atlantic coastal areas , through transnational cooperation. In addition to the Commonwealth , the project partnership consists of the University of Cantabria ( Spain ), the Regional Government of South West (Ireland ) , The Institute of Technology Cork ( Ireland) , University of Glasgow Caledonian ( Great Britain) and University of Algarve (Portugal ) . The total project budget is slightly over one million euros 65% co-financing corresponding to the communal and is distributed among the partners in a balanced manner , in accordance with the responsibilities of each partner. The president of the Commonwealth , Pilar Argos reported that "the project will last 24 months and will start from June. I also realized that has held meetings with the Minister of Rural Development, Livestock and Fisheries , the Director General of Fisheries and the Director of the Employment Service of Cantabria in order to present the project and involved from the beginning in its execution .
